Florence A. Kent, 96, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, April 26, 2015, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10 a.m. today at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Leroy Struble officiating. Burial will be Memorial Park Cemetery.
Florence was born on Feb. 5, 1919, in Decatur, Neb., to William Gregg and Nora (Headley) Darling. She attended school in Lyons, Neb.
She married Noel Richard Kent on Aug. 14, 1939, in South Sioux City.
She was a member of United Methodist Church in Moville, Iowa. Florence enjoyed sewing, traveling, square dancing and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her daughters, Norene (Norman) Hamman of Climbing Hill, Iowa, Aileen Lewison of Moline, Ill., Gladys (Jerry) Abel of Washington, Ill., Beatrice (Delbert "Butch") Stokes of Whiting, Iowa, Patty (Dan) Parks of Stoystown, Pa., and Donna (Gordon) Brown of Scott City, Mo.; sons, James (Debbie) Kent of Des Moines, and William (Diane) Kent of Media, Ill.; 33 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren; and 48 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Noel Kent; grandsons, Randy Hamman and James Kent Jr.; granddaughter, Terry Felton; brothers, Paul, Franks and John Darling; sister, Nellie Cutbirth; son-in-law, Roland Lewison; and daughter-in-law, Jan Kent.
