Frances E. Foster, 93, of Sioux City passed away Feb. 11, 2016, at a local hospital.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Armand Bertrand officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Frances was born in Sioux City on Sept. 17, 1922, to Michael and Stella (Cuirlevitas) Walish. Frances was educated in the Sioux City School District.
She married Eldon E. Foster on Nov. 13, 1942, in Ponca, Neb., and he passed away on Dec. 10, 1992. Frances worked at various packing houses in Sioux City, before becoming a full-time homemaker.
She was an active member of St. Casimir’s Lithuanian Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Rosary Society and Catholic Daughters of America. Frances enjoyed the outdoors and camping in Little Sioux Park in Missouri Valley, Iowa, with her husband and friends. Through the years, she and her husband enjoyed the company of their many dogs. Most recently, she enjoyed the company of her Shih Tzu, "Cutie." She was a great chef and took great pleasure in cooking for others, especially her nieces and nephews
Survivors include nephew, Douglas and Kim Walish of Sioux City; and nieces, Joanne and Earl Nicholls of Omaha, Carole Zebas of Lawrence, Kan., Patty Houlihan of Sioux City and Kathy and Gerald Herndon of Holt, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eldon; two brothers, James and Peter Walish; and a sister, Michaelene Kerdikes.
