SIOUX CITY -- Frances Marie "Frannie" Wetz, 99, of Sioux City died on Dec. 6, 2011, at a Sioux City nursing home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rev. Merlin Schrad will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with a Catholic Daughters of America rosary at 4 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., at Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Frannie was born in Sioux City on July 24, 1912, the daughter of Leo F. and F. Mary "Mayme" (Hacker) Marolf. She was raised in Sioux City and graduated from Cathedral High School. She worked at Davidson Photography Studio for 10 years, until 1945.
In 1945, she married Grant J. Wetz at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sioux City. Grant died on Oct. 29, 1970.
She was a 60-year member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was active in all aspects of the church. In 1983, she joined Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Confraternity. Frannie was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and served on a committee for St. Monica's Home. She loved being involved in her children's activities such as being a den mother for the Cub Scouts. She served as vice president of the Adventures Travel Club and was a member of the Doe's (Lady Elks). She loved doing photo albums and scrapbooks. The most important part of her life was spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by three children, Greg Wetz of Chula Vista, Calif., Carol and Craig Anderson of Omaha, and Mark and Jenny Wetz of Dakota Dunes, S.D.; and six grandchildren, Kelly and Brad Tyler, Grant and Jill Wetz, Scott Wetz, Ann Frances Wetz, Katie Anderson and Bryan Cortes, and Abby Anderson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in her name for Heelan Catholic Schools.
