Frank L. Brown, 96, of South Sioux City, died Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017, at Matney's Colonial Manor in South Sioux City.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Visitation will be 1 p.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
Frank L. Brown, the son of Charles and Mary (Vetter) Brown, was born on May 25, 1920, in Le Mars, Iowa. He attended Plymouth County Country School, and went on to graduate from Le Mars Central High School. Frank served in the U.S. Coast Guard, attaining the rank of boatswain mate first class.
On July 12, 1947, Frank was united in marriage with Elsie Moir in Storm Lake, Iowa. He was employed with Northwestern Bell Telephone Company for 35 years, retiring in 1982.
Frank was a member of the Eagle's Club and the American Legion.
Frank is survived by four daughters, Sandra Gilligan of Canyon Lake, Texas, Linda Nelson of Sergeant Bluff, Bonnie (Dennis) Brouillette of Salix, Iowa, Beverly (Ricardo) Pous-Ojeda of Elkhart, Iowa, and Holly Brown of Omaha; nine grandsons; one granddaughter; 17 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elsie; two sisters, Blanche and Florence; and two brothers, Glenn and Ray.
