SIOUX CITY - Frank S. Juarez, 79, of Sioux City died Thursday, April 7, 2011, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Gary Snyder officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. today at Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Frank was born Aug. 3, 1931, at Whiting, Iowa, the son of Librado and Maria (Florez) Juarez. He attended school in Sioux City and graduated from Central High School in 1949.
Frank married Mona Byers on Feb. 19, 1955, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Sioux City. They lived in several different states, making their home base in Moville, Iowa, for more than 35 years. Frank worked as a sales representative for Institutional Foods, retiring in 1989 due to a disabling stroke. Frank and Mona moved to Sioux City in 2007.
Frank used to sing throughout Sioux City. He sang with the Sioux City Women's Orchestra as a child vocalist and once won the Horace Height Talent Search. Frank also served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. Frank's children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. He also enjoyed helping organize and attending the South Bottoms Reunion.
He is survived by his wife, Mona Juarez; four daughters, Simone Horn of Sioux City, Michelle and Wayne Davis of Sioux City, JeanAnn and Marty Weiland of Le Mars, Iowa, and Debbie Jo and Johnny Bremer of Moville, Iowa; two sons, Anthony and Agnes Juarez of Chicago, Ill., and Frankie and Nikki Juarez of Salix, Iowa; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Paz Flores, Pamee Simon and Jenny Whitehead; and two brothers, Robert and Mary Juarez and Joe and Barb Juarez.
He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers; one sister; and a son-in-law, Pat Horn.
