Fred B. Davenport III, 61, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, March 8, 2008, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Morningside Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Kevin Lee and the Rev. Paul Kelly of St. Rose of Lima in Denison, Iowa, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 6 p.m., at Christy-Smith Larkin Chapel. Condolences may be sent online to

Alfred B. Davenport III was born Nov. 8, 1946, to Fred B. and Martha J. (Roe) Davenport in Sioux City. He graduated from East High School with the class of 1964 and attended Morningside College.
On April 1, 1984, he and Rhonda Overman were married in Omaha. To this union two children were born, Dagan and Steely. He worked with investments, real estate and was a developer in Omaha, Burlington, Kan., and Sioux City.
He was a member of Morningside Lutheran Church and the Realtors Association. He raised and bred race horses and was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a generous and loving man, always giving more than he had. He was a "big man with a big heart."
He is survived by his father, Fred Jr. of Sioux City; his children, Dagan of Sioux City and Steely of Burlington, Kan.; a sister and her husband, Karen and Robert Thomas of Sioux City; brothers and their wives, Deane and Kimberly of Denver, Colo., and David and Lori of Sioux City; a sister, Julie Davies-Roost of Sioux City; a very special friend of many years, Lupita Ramos of Sioux City; and his friend and ex-wife, Rhonda of Burlington, Kan.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha; and a brother-in-law, Ed Davies.
