Frederick Chadwick

Frederick "Fred" Chadwick, 73, of Sioux City passed from this life on Saturday, April 23, 2016, at a Sioux City hospital, following treatment for atrial fibrillation and stroke.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sunnybrook Community Church. The Rev. BJ Van Kalsbeek will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Fred entered this life on April 5, 1943, at the Lutheran Hospital in Fort Dodge, Iowa, born to Marian and J Richard Chadwick. It was there he graduated from Fort Dodge High School with the class of 1961. Fred earned a degree in industrial education from the University of Northern Iowa followed by a master’s degree in industrial education from Wayne State College. His 42 1/2 year teaching career was spent with the Sioux City Community Schools teaching industrial technology. He was head teacher for many years and ended his career as principal of Central Campus. His love of teaching and interaction with his students was a core of his life.
Fred married the love of his life, Carol Moen, on Aug. 22, 1964. They were blessed with two children.
His interests included playing golf, custom woodworking, and playing cards with the guys. For many years, he managed a detasseling company in the summer and was also very active with the Morningside Little League. He served on the little league boards for many years at the local and district levels. His family was his life’s passion.
Left to honor his memory is his wife, Carol of Sioux City; his children, Jay (Julie) Chadwick and Jenny (Dusty) Bertrand; his five grandchildren, Lauren Chadwick, Sam Chadwick, Lucas Chadwick, Taylor Bertrand and Casey Chadwick; three sisters, Connie Chadwick-Lynch of Calgary, Canada, Linda Chadwick of West Chester, Ill., and Susie Chadwick of Sergeant Bluff.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Morningside Little League or the East High School Baseball Program.
