Frieda Martha Mickelson, 84, passed away Sunday, March 30, 2008 at the Indian Hills Hospice in Sioux City, IA.
Private family services were held Tuesday at the Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Burial was in Battle Creek, IA.
Freida Martha Mickelson was born July 18, 1923, in Battle Creek, Iowa, to William and Carrie (Hansen) Heinse. She attended grades 1-12 at the Anthon Community School.
In November of 1950, she was joined in marriage to Gordon Mickelson. The couple had four children; Martha, Allen, Paul & David. Frieda lived all of her life in and around the Anthon, Iowa, area before moving to Sioux City in her final years.
Frieda was very active in the Trinity Lutheran Church, but first and foremost, she was a mother and grandmother to her family. She loved to cook, bake, and garden. She enjoyed passing this knowledge onto her kids & grandkids.
She is survived by her two brothers, Edward (Lucille) Heinse of Anthon, IA and Fred (Jeanette) Heinse of Correctionville, IA; her three sons, Allen and his wife Pam Mickelson of Sgt. Bluff, IA, Paul Mickelson of Pensacola, FL, and David Mickelson of Sioux City, IA; her five grandchildren & one great-grandchild, Matthew Mickelson of San Jose, CA and his son Nikolas, Terra Mickelson of Sioux City, IA, Kimberly Mickelson of Phoenix, AZ, John Mickelson of Iowa City, IA, and Martha Mickelson of Indianola, IA.
Frieda was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, William Heinse Jr and Bertha King, and her daughter Martha Ellen Young.
