Gabrielle P Perry, 106, of Sioux City, died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2017, at a local hospital.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sioux City. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., a rosary at 4:30 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Homes.
Gabrielle was born in rural Union County S.D., on Jan. 31,1911, the daughter of Phillip and Olive (Montange) Bourassa. She attended and graduated from Jefferson, S.D. schools. Following high school, she attended and graduated from St. Vincent School of Nursing in Sioux City.
She was united in marriage with Donald J. Perry on Jan. 9, 1933 in Sioux City. Mr. Perry preceded her in death in 1969. Gabrielle worked for a short time as a nurse, and then began working at the Sioux City Stockyards until reaching the age of 70.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she served as past president of the Parish Women's Guild. She was also a member of the Stockettes, a lifetime member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She was very involved in serving at the Sioux City Food Pantry for more than 50 years. She was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and was featured last year in the Sioux City Journal when her beloved Cubs won the World Series.
Gabrielle is survived by her niece, Mary Claire Kenne and her husband, Mike of Altoona, Iowa, her nephews, Michael Beacom and his wife, Katie of Omaha, and Thomas Beacom and his wife, Joy of Somers, Iowa; and numerous nieces, nephews and grandnieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and 11 siblings.
