SIOUX CITY -- Gary V. Aalseth, 66, of Kansas City, Mo., formerly of Sioux City, passed away Monday, April 12, 2010, at a Kansas City hospital.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Sioux City, with the Rev. Roger Madden officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Gary Vern Aalseth was born on Sept. 13, 1943, in Sioux City, to Donald and Grace (Martin) Aalseth. He attended and graduated from Sergeant Bluff High School with the class of 1961. After high school, Gary did his technical training and became a journeyman electrician. He was employed by the IBEW Local 231 in Sioux City. Gary lived and worked in Sioux City until he moved to Kansas City in 1989. Gary worked exclusively for the union.
Gary and Janice Elrod were married on Oct. 2, 1993, in Independence, Mo.
Gary is survived by his wife, Janice of Kansas City, Mo.; son, Keith of Le Mars, Iowa; daughter, Kathy of Le Mars; son, Kurt (Amy) of Le Mars; grandchildren, Michael and Thomas; sister, Shirley Moore of Kansas City, Mo.; niece, Sylvia (Doug) Dalrymple of St. Louis, Mo.; and stepson, James Elrod of Taylor, Mich.
Gary's parents preceded him in death.
