Gary Patrick Ehlers, 60, Sioux City died Wednesday, March 27, 2013, after being stricken at his home.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. The Rev. Merrill Muller will officiate. Cremation will follow the service Saturday. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Gary was born on July 29, 1952, in Sioux City, the son of Robert and Ruby (Olson) Ehlers. He was raised in Sioux City and attended Central High School.
He married Pam Henshaw. They later divorced. On March 27, 1997, He married Pauline Owens in Sioux City. Gary had worked at IBP for 38 years and was currently working at Tyson Foods in the maintenance department.
Gary enjoyed playing cards, bowling, camping and watching old TV movies. What he enjoyed most was spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline; his mother, Ruby; his children, Kim Ehlers, Tracy Ehlers and Bobbie, Michelle Ehlers and John, Melissa "Mo" Ehlers and Bill, Shane and Bobbi Stapleton, Dustin and Jordan Toquinto; 18 grandchildren; a great-grandson; a sister, Sharon LaFleur; and brothers, Ronald and Diane Ehlers, and Mike and Judy Ehlers.
He was preceded in death by his father; a daughter, Lisa; and two brothers, Robert Jr. and Larry.
