Gary Lee Schafer, 53, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008, at his residence.
Memorial services will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at Berkemier Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.christysmith.com .
Gary Lee Schafer was born Aug. 13, 1955, in Sioux City, the son of William J.D. and Phyllis (Huffman) Schafer. He spent his entire life in Sioux City. On Dec. 26, 1990, he and Nickey Hansen were married in Sioux City.
He was a member of the Sioux City Salvation Army.
He is survived by his wife, Nickey of Sioux City; a son, Garrit of Sioux City; brothers, Gene and his wife, Lori of Grapeview, Wash., and Larry of Sioux City; sisters and their husbands, Beverly and Jeff Harrison of Seattle, Wash., Barbara and Roger McKnight of Phoenix, Ariz., Debbie and Butch McKnight of Sioux City and Vicki Witkowski of Sioux City; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives; and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
