Gene Lyons, 78, of Moville passed away Monday, Dec. 8, 2014, at a Sioux City hospital.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Moville United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Arlington Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until service time Friday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of McCulloch Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Moville.
Gene was born on Dec. 13, 1935, in Moville, to Clifford M. and Hazel (Baker) Lyons. He graduated from Moville High School.
Gene was united in marriage to LaRae Thomas on Oct. 12, 1957, in Ida Grove, Iowa. Over the years, Gene worked for Knapp & Spencer Company, Wright & Walhelmy Co., and Moville Hardware.
He was a member of Moville United Methodist Church and a Chapter member of the Jay-Cees. Gene enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, and antiquing.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, LaRae Lyons of Moville; daughters, Geney (Michael) Streepy of Sioux City, Stacey (Rich Wilson) Sedgwick of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Andrea (Chuck) Prior of Moville; four grandchildren, Randi (Nate) Smith, Brent (Jessica McNeely) Sedgwick, Nicholas Prior, and Lydia Prior; great-grandchildren, Trevor Black, Jaclyn Sedgwick, and Alexa Duncan; brother-in-laws, Gerry (Linda) Thomas of Sioux City, Larry (Pat) Thomas of Ashland, Neb., and Steve (Sam) Thomas of Moville; very good friends, Bob and Vicki Manker and Leo and Gerry Miller; and numerous great friends and relatives.
He is preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law; and grandson, Zach Streepy.
