SIOUX CITY -- George W. Larvick, 61, of Sioux City died Monday, June 6, 2011, at the V.A. Administration Regional Medical Center in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday in Logan Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Gene Stockton officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Army. Arrangements are being handled by Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent to

George was born May 15, 1950, at Moorhead, Minn., the son of George and Martha (Janke) Larvick. As a child, he moved with his family to Sioux City, where he attended West Junior and graduated from Central High School in 1969. As a young teenager, George began his musical career with the band, Patch of Blue.
In 1970, he entered the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam on a tank unit. After his honorable discharge, he went to work for Flood Music, where he worked for 18 years, becoming the manager. George started his own business, Larvick Speaker in 1986.
George played in many bands throughout the area. He enjoyed sharing his love of music and taught guitar lessons. George was inducted into the Iowa Rock and Roll Music Association Hall of Fame twice.
Survivors include his fiancee, Jean Huff; four sisters, Barbara and Rick Borg, Norma and Lee Stansberry, Debra and Chuck Carman and Leila and Rick Redmond; three brothers, Brad and Carol Larvick, Eric and Dee Larvick and Ronald Larvick; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
