George Mueller

November 30, 1936 — September 16, 2016

George Marvin Mueller, 79, of Sioux City died peacefully on Sept. 16, 2016, at home surrounded by his family.
Services will be 11 to 11:45 a.m. Monday at Grace Methodist Church. Lunch will follow at the church. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
George was born Nov. 30, 1936, to Lloyd and Irene (Eilts) Mueller of Maurice, Iowa. He graduated from Ireton, Iowa High School in 1955. He then attended National Business Training (NBT) in Sioux City, studying accounting, office practices, and sales.
George married Ruth Dumkrieger in June 1957 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sioux City.
George was employed at several businesses, the last being Enviro Safe Air as comptroller. He also worked at General Tobacco Company, Metz Baking Company, and Van Osdel Plastering. He retired in 1999 but continued to work part-time at Enviro Safe Air and other companies until 2007.
He attended Grace Methodist Church, where he was active until he became ill with cancer. George had many hobbies, including bowling, golfing, woodworking, and card playing. He had four golfing holes-in-one. The woodworking projects he made for family and friends will be treasured for years.
Surviving him are his wife; four children, James Mueller (Linda), Pamela (Darrell) Fluent, John (Kay) Mueller, and Penni Pearson (Patrick); two grandsons, Zachary (Morgan) Mueller and Lukas Mueller; a sister, Lois (Eldon) Zellmer; a brother, Allan (Pamela Rae) Mueller; a brother-in-law, Fred (Marcia) Dumkrieger; special friends, Ed and Sunyo Johnson; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
George was preceded in death by his parents.
George willed his body to Sanford School of Medicine at U.S.D. in Vermillion, S.D.
His family would like to thank Hospice of Siouxland, and especially Jon and Theresa, for all their help.
