SIOUX CITY -- George D. Norris, 85, of Sioux City died Friday, Feb. 26, 2010, at his home.
Visitation with the family will be 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
George was born on Feb. 22, 1925, in Jefferson, S.D., the son of Edward and Ida (Onderstal) Norris. He graduated from Jefferson High School.
On June 15,1944, George married Ruth D. Myers in Sioux City. The couple made their home in Sioux City. George went to work for the Chesterman Bottling Co. in 1947, starting as a route salesman and at the time of his retirement he was the head of the 7-UP division. He retired in March of 1995. Ruth died on Jan. 3, 2009, in Sioux City.
George enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards. In the past few years, he enjoyed going to the boat. The most important part of George's life was his family and his friends.
He is survived by two sons and their wives, Mike and Mary of Mankato, Minn., and Greg and Gloria of Richmond, Texas; his daughter-in-law, Kay Norris of Whiting, Iowa; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and his brothers, Floyd of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Ed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth; his son, Randy; and a sister, Emma.
