SIOUX CITY -- Georgene May Larson, 85, of Sioux City died Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009, at a Sioux City nursing home.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Merrill Muller officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Georgene was born May 8, 1924, in Sioux City, the daughter of George and Ruth (Streeter) Shove. She attended Sioux City schools.
On June 30, 1951, she was united in marriage to John E. Larson in Elk Point, S.D. He died Oct. 8, 1984, in Sioux City. She worked at the Sioux City Battery from 1943 to 1956. She then worked at Johnson Biscuit Co. from 1962 to 1979.
She enjoyed gardening and fishing. She also enjoyed playing bingo and traveling with friends.
She is survived by a sister, Sylvia Huber of Sioux City; two brothers, Jim Poole of Albert Lea, Minn., and Lee (Poole) Remer and his wife, Sondra of Wayne, Neb.; a sister-in-law, Janelle Poole of Ogden, Utah; a brother-in-law, Donald O'Brien of Cape Cod, Mass.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; a sister, Lois O'Brien; brothers, Bill Shove and Bob Shove; half-brothers, Carey Poole, Cleo Poole and Pat Poole; and sisters-in-law, Bonnie Poole and Janet Poole.
