Georgia June Kautzsch (Johnson)

June 18, 1929 — April 28, 2008

Georgia J. Kautzsch, 78, of Sioux City died Monday, April 28, 2008 at Embassy Rehab & Care Center, Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, following a brief illness.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel with the Rev. Charles Wolf officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

Georgia was born June 18, 1929 in Walthill, Neb., the daughter of Glen W. and Essie Mae (Warnock) Johnson. She continued living in Walthill until 1957 when the family moved to Sioux City. Georgia married Jack Raymond Cooper on Nov. 19, 1946. To this union, they were blessed with three children. Georgia and Jack ran a restaurant in Walthill. She then worked as a bartender for the Black Coach Lounge and the Jungle Lounge. Georgia worked in the housekeeping department for St. Luke's Hospital. She retired in 1993. She married Herbert "Herb" Kautzsch on Dec. 23, 1976 in Elk Point, S.D. He died on March 14, 2006 in Sergeant Bluff. She was a member of the Lutheran faith.

Georgia and Herb liked to travel to the Black Hills, Wyoming and Colorado. She loved to dance. But most of all, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include: her three children, Jackie Lippert and her husband Mark of Willmar, Minn., Glen Cooper of Sioux City, and Anna Marie Cooper of Sioux City; a sister, Anita Beckner of Oakland, Neb., three stepsons and their families, Steven, Herb "Topper" and Randy Kautzsch; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; a sister Doris Martin, and two brothers, Darold and Phillip Johnson.

Pallbearers will be Bill Cooper, Bob Cooper, Kenny Cooper, Kevin Trometer, Heath Trometer, and Derek Parker. Honorary pallbearers will be Zack Thompson and Logan Fischer.
