Gerald W. Lee, age 76, of Sioux City, passed suddenly October 7th, 2021, at nursing home in Le Mars, Iowa.
Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. Monday, October 11, 2021, at Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, Morningside Chapel located at 1801 Morningside Ave. Sioux City, IA. Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, Morningside Chapel. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Gerald was born May 30th, 1945, in Sioux City, Iowa and graduated from Sergeant Bluff high school in 1965. After graduating from high school, Gerald enlisted in the United States Navy and served honorably during the Vietnam war.
Upon his return from active duty, Gerald married Mary Sudtelgte Lee in October 1969. Through that marriage the couple had and raised two sons, Shawn and Todd. After serving in the US Navy, Gerald started working for Horner Waldorf Container in 1968, he remained there throughout the duration of his sales career and the company’s many transitions (Champion, Stone Container, Smurfit-Stone, Rock-Tenn), retiring in 2007.
Gerald enjoyed golfing and was known for his easy golf swing and smooth putting stroke. The highlight of Gerald’s golfing years came when he got his first hole in one at the Dakota Dunes Country Club. Gerald also enjoyed camping, family fishing trips, entertaining friends and family, and was well known for his many jokes.
Gerald is survived by his two sons, Shawn (Kamie) Lee, and Todd (Sara) Lee; 4 grandchildren, Avery Lee, Addyson Lee, Jacob Lee and Austin Lee; brothers, Ken (Shauna) Hagestrom, Jim Lee; and sisters, Linda (Dan) Belew, Sharon (David) Tedford, and special friend Diane Sargisson.
Gerald is preceded in death by his father, Elvin “Bus” Lee; mother, Margaret Youngstrom; brothers, Garey Lee, Jay Lee, John Hagestrom, and Chuck Hagestrom.
