SIOUX CITY -- Geraldine E. Lahrs, 80, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 2:30 p.m. Friday at Morningside Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Dakota City Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 4 to 6 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Geraldine was born Nov. 4, 1930, in Thurston, Neb., to Darrell and Juanita (Hammack) McManigal. She graduated salutatorian from Winnebago (Neb.) High School in 1948.
She married Dallas M. Lahrs on Oct. 3, 1950, in South Sioux City. She raised three children and worked part-time in retail, bookkeeping and as a seamstress. In her retirement, she and Dallas started a business called Seams 'n Sawdust.
She was a talented artist and taught herself how to play the organ. She also taught herself to sew, crochet and knit. She enjoyed difficult crossword puzzles.
Survivors include her husband, Dallas M. Lahrs; a daughter, Pam Lahrs; sons, Dallas D. Lahrs and Daryl W. Lahrs; three grandsons; three great-granddaughters; sisters, Colleen M. Hayes, Kathleen L. Rowe, and Bonnie L. Gupta; and a brother, Dennis McManigal.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters; and four brothers.
