Gertrude Belle Walters, 95, Bentonville, AR, former Sioux City resident passed way Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at The Gardens of Osage Terrace in Bentonville.
Funeral Service will be at 1:00pm Saturday, October 15, 2011 in the Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Rev. Dann Speichinger, of Washington Heights Chapel, will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will from 10:00am until service time at the funeral home.
Gertrude was born on May 9, 1916 in Coleridge, NE, the daughter of Louis and Daisy (Jordan) Stapleman. She married LaMonte Walters on March 11, 1935 in Coleridge, NE. He preceded her in death on January 13, 1976. Gertrude worked as a wool presser for Gene Smith Cleaners and then went to work for Kresge’s, from which she retired.
She is survived by one son, William “Bill” L. Walters and his wife Marlys of Bella Vista, AR, one daughter, Shirley Ducommun of Monument, CO. Three sisters, Deloris Dunn of Salem, OR, Bernice Harris of Apache Junction, AZ, and Donna Fairchild of Burley, ID, 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 6 step great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter in law, Janet Walters and a son-in-law, Paul Ducommun.
