SIOUX CITY -- Gisela Edith Jablonski, 79, of Sioux City passed away Friday, March 13, 2009, at her residence.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with the Rev. Daniel Guenther officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Gisela was born March 31, 1929, in Marburg/Lahn, Germany. She grew up and attended school in Germany, and then later technical school, majoring in photography. She married Chester Jablonski on Oct. 2, 1948, at St. Elisabeth Church in Marburg/Lahn, Germany. He passed away on April 27, 2006.

The couple came to the U.S. in 1949, and had been here ever since. Gisela was a homemaker. She was also employed at the Battery Factory, Aalfs Manufacturing and the Sioux City School District in the cafeteria.

She was a member of St. Francis Church until its closing and later became a member of Immaculate Conception Church. She also was a member of the Breakfast Club and the German-American Club. She was a Sioux City Octoberfest Queen. Gisela enjoyed cooking and dancing.

Survivors include her children, Dirk and Edna Jablonski of Rapid City, S.D., Gisela and Michael Kamm of Lincoln, Neb., and Michael and Linda Jablonski of Kingman, Ariz.; grandchildren, Melissa Kamm, Jason Jablonski, Steve Kamm, Adam Jablonski, Shera Jablonski, Darren Jablonski, Jessica Jablonski and Gisele Jablonski; and seven great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Trenton, Katalina, Lexi Kamm and Marek, Gavin and Collin Jablonski.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and three sisters.
