Gladys was born Jan. 3, 1928, in Sioux City, the daughter of John R. and Helen Nellie (McLoughlin) Conley. She attended Sioux City Public Schools.
She married the love of her life, Carl Lee Guy Sr. on Jan. 11, 1947, in Sioux City. He died July 22, 1999, in Sioux City. She was employed as a cashier for Danny's Supermarket, Warehouse Market and Food-4-Less as well as many adventures of self-employment with her husband.
She was a lifelong resident of Sioux City. She enjoyed country and gospel music. She was a loyal fan of professional wrestling (we have the tapes to prove it). She enjoyed entertaining people at her home, making people happy, but most of all, she loved being with her family, friends and cats.
Gladys died like she lived, with family, with grace, with gentleness and at peace.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lynda and Frank Blachnik; a son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Deanna Guy; daughters-in-law, Colleen Guy and Bonita Guy, all of Sioux City; 23 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two cats, Peek a Boo and Dolly, both of Sioux City; and one twinkle in the eye. She was blessed with many close family and friends to name a few, Agnes Weber, a friend for more than 50 years, Audrey Massey, Gary Brown, Rick Carver, Ira and Angie Lopez; five sisters-in-law and their spouses; and longtime pen pal, Wyona Zachow.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Lewis Conley; her husband, Carl Sr.; two sons, Carl L. Guy Jr. and Ronnie L. Guy; two granddaughters, Andrea Guy and an infant child; and Gladys' cat, Sarah.
Pallbearers will be the family members whom she carried through life and now they have the privilege and honor of carrying her to her final resting place, Jamie Guy, Joey Guy, Deanna Guy, Amanda Blomenkamp, Shelly and Roberto Hernandez-Jacome, Teri Skrdla, Skylar Guy and CASEY Blachnik.
