Glenice Marie Larson (Rustan)

SIOUX CITY -- Glenice Marie Larson, 77, of Sioux City passed away unexpectedly Saturday, May 28, 2011, in Fargo, N.D.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Homes. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.
Glenice was born Aug. 11, 1933, in Emmetsburg, Iowa, to Agnes and Fritz Rustan. After growing up in the Ruthven, Iowa, area, she graduated from Lake Center High School in 1951.
She married Clair Larson, her high school sweetheart, on July 16, 1952. For the next several years they served in the U.S. Navy in Oklahoma, Texas and California and aboard the USS Philippine Sea (CVS-47). Following their naval service, they resided in Des Moines, Iowa, Mankato, Minn., and since 1978 in Sioux City.
Glenice worked in a variety of positions over the years, but most notably was known by young folks in Mankato as "Taco Ma" at Taco John's. She later retired from B. Dalton Booksellers in Sioux City.
Glenice was interested in many things, but she most loved to read and travel, particularly on family fishing trips. She served her nation honorably as a Navy wife, Navy mom and Navy grandmother.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Clair Larson; her children, Steve Larson of San Antonio, Texas, Jodi Maxey of Mankato, Doug Larson of Mankato, and Kristi Larson of Chicago, Ill.; a brother, Garth Rustan of Washington, Iowa; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Agnes and Fritz Rustan.
