Glenn R. Chesley, 93, of Sioux Falls, SD formerly of Sioux City died peacefully at his home in Sioux Falls surrounded by his family.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 PM of Saturday June 11, 2022, at Christy-Smith Funeral Homes Morningside Chapel located at 1801 Morningside Ave in Sioux City with Pastor Liz Tucker officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery next to his wife Mary.
Visitation will be from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM with the family.
Glenn was born Nov 11, 1928, in Sloan, IA to Ambrose and Bernice (Pilgrim) Chesley. He grew up in Sioux City attending Sioux City Public Schools. Glenn married Mary Maxine Noakes in 1948 in Sioux City. They made their home in Sioux City and raised three boys, Rick, Randy, and Russ. The couple was married for 73 years when Mary passed away in November of 2021. He worked for Armour Packing Plant in Sioux City for 32 years and then at Lewis & Clark Elementary School in South Sioux City for another 15 years before retiring in 1993.
Glenn was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. He loved to fish and enjoyed gardening especially raising his tomatoes.
Glenn is survived by his three sons; Rick Chesley and his wife Duwanna of Florida, Randy Chesley of Florida, Russ Chesley and his life partner Tim Knoblich of Sioux Falls, SD; three grandchildren, Aaron, Jeremy, Jason; seven great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Judy Chesley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary, sister’s and brother’s Lorraine Becker, Gladys Hovermen, Florence Coleman, Ella Malloy, Joyce Bressler and Don Chesley.
