Gordon C. Hull

April 18, 1937 — September 13, 2013

Sioux City – Gordon Hull, 76, of Sioux City, passed away Friday, September 13, at Countryside Retirement Center, after an extended illness. Abiding by his wishes, the body was cremated. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday at St. Mark Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Del Olivier officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Morningside Chapel, Christy Smith Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent on-line to www.christysmith.com .
Gordon Hull was born April 18th, 1937 in Sioux City to Edwin and Nettie Hull. He attended schools in Sioux City and graduated from East High School in 1955. He earned a Bachelor's degree from Morningside College and a Masters degree from U.S.D. He also served in the Air National Guard.
He married Jackie Ohl on August 1st, 1958 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. They were blessed with 3 sons and enjoyed over 50 years of marriage before Jackie’s passing in 2009.
Gordon taught English at West Jr. High School. He was an assistant principal and principal at Woodrow Wilson Jr. High School. He also was an assistant principal at North High School. His dedication and support to students and faculty of the Sioux City Community School District spanned 6 decades.
He enjoyed spending time with friends and family. He also enjoyed attending the numerous activities of his grandchildren. He was an avid fan at countless area high school sporting events. He loved traveling with his wife and friends. He participated in numerous church activities and he and Jackie assisted with many Class of 55 High School Reunions. He was a Green Bay Packers fan. His friends and family will miss his quick wit and sense of humor.
He is survived by brothers Eddie and his wife Donna of Omaha, Cordell and his wife Arta of Walnut Creek, California., and sister Shirley and her husband Jim of Arvada, Colorado, A son Randy of Wausau Wisconsin, a daughter-in-law Martha of Wausau Wisconsin, A son Brian and his wife Michele of Omaha, a son Rusty of Dubuque, and a daughter-in-law Amy of Thief River Falls, Minnesota. He was also survived by brothers-in-law Steve and Rick Ohl of Sioux City and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Nettie Hull, and his wife Jackie.
Honorary pallbearers will be his Grandchildren, Kristen and Greg Wallis, Sarah Hull, Tyler Hull, Ryan Hull, Kacie Hull, Mason Hull, Preston Hull and his great grandsons, Aiden and Ashton Wallis.
A memorial will be set up by Gordon’s family
He was a loving and caring person and will be greatly missed.
