Grayce M. Collins, 102, of Sioux City died Saturday, March 29, 2008, at a Sioux City nursing home.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael Catholic Church, with the Revs. Gary Snyder and Lawrence Flanagan, S.J., her brother, officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Christy-Smith Larkin Chapel.
Grayce was born Feb. 8, 1906, in Marcus, Iowa, the daughter of James and Anna (Wardle) Flanagan. She was raised in Marcus and graduated from Holy Name Catholic School in 1925. She worked as a sales clerk for T.S. Martin in Sioux City and for several years at Sears.
She married William J. Collins on Oct. 29, 1939, in Sioux City. The couple moved to Long Beach, Calif., in 1954, where she worked for the Buffin's Department Store. After they retired in 1970, they returned to Marcus, Iowa. After a couple of years, they returned to Sioux City. William died Oct. 6, 1984 in Sioux City.
She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing golf and cards.
She is survived by three brothers, Paul and Georgina Flanagan and Raymond Flanagan, all of Marcus and the Rev. Lawrence Flanagan, S.J., of Omaha; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister and her husband, Mary and Joseph Brady; a brother and his wife, Earl and Catherine Flanagan; and a sister-in-law, Elaine Flanagan.
