Greg Alan Young, 41, of North Sioux City passed away on Friday, June 12, 2015, at a local hospital, after a brief illness.
A private family memorial service will be held. Burial will be at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Greg was born June 2, 1974, in Sioux City, to Ron and Kathy Young of Sioux City. He attended high school in Walthill, Neb.
Greg and Donna were united in marriage on Feb. 5, 1999, at Elk Point, S.D. He worked for Sioux-Preme Pork Products, Bekins Logistics, and Orkin Pest Control.
Greg loved his family and the Nebraska "Cornhuskers" football team. He was a fun-loving guy, who never met a stranger. Greg was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone that needed help, placing their needs before his own. He will be missed by all of us.
Greg (“Tommy Boy”) is survived by his wife, Donna (Doenhoefer); two sons, Adam (fiancee, Jess) and Michael, and one grandson, Gavin, all of North Sioux City; his parents, Ron and Kathy Young of Sioux City; one brother; Wayne (Kellie) of Red Oak, Iowa; his grandmother, Darlene Kilberg of Sioux City; his father-in-law, Douglas Doenhoefer and mother-in-law, Desiree Johnson, both of Walthill, Neb.; in-laws, Dee Doenhoefer of Sioux City, Joseph Doenhoefer of Homer, Neb., Denton Doenhoefer of South Sioux City, Aaron Johnson of Bancroft, Neb., and Jason Johnson of Bremerton, Wash.; Donna’s grandmother, Jane Lyons of Walthill, Neb.; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Greg was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clifford and Margaret Young; grandfather, Raymond "Bud" Kilberg; and father-in-law, Lynn Johnson.
