SIOUX CITY -- Helen Diane Buresh, 72, of Missouri Valley, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, died Saturday, July 3, 2010, at Longview Home in Missouri Valley.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Alan Wicks of First Lutheran Church officiating.
Diane was born June 23, 1938, in Sioux City, the daughter of Gene Harold "Curly" and Mary Margaret "Mayme" (Ziegelmeier) Pittenger. She was raised in South Sioux City, graduating from South Sioux City High School.
She married Robert D. Buresh on May 2, 1959, in Worthington, Minn. He died Dec. 30, 1999, in Sioux City. She had lived in Sioux City most of her life until her health forced her to move to the nursing home in Missouri Valley in 2008. She had been a waitress for Curly's Cafe in South Sioux City and for Palmer House Restaurant in Sioux City for many years. She had also decorated cakes for special occasions.
She enjoyed meeting her friends for lunch and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Julie Ellen and Glenn Beall of Scotland, S.D.; grandchildren, Laura Beall, Amy Beall, Catherine Beall, Elizabeth Beall and Alexander Buresh; a sister, Phyllis Billelo of Tempe, Ariz.; two brothers, Richard and Bonnie Pittenger of Sarasota, Fla., and James and Gerda Pittenger of Pinehurst, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Andrew James; a grandson, Joshua Aaron; and two brothers, John Pittenger and Douglas Ebel.
