Harry Walter "Buck" Jahn

MOVILLE, Iowa -- Harry W. "Buck" Jahn, 89, of Moville died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2007, at Sunrise Retirement Community in Sioux City.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at United Methodist Church in Moville, with the Rev. Ed Frank officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Christy-Smith McCulloch Chapel in Moville.

Harry W. "Buck" Jahn was born Feb. 23, 1918, on a farm near Moville, the son of Gus and Christina (Bremer) Jahn. He was raised in the area and attended country school.

He married Marvel Steinhauer on Sept. 20, 1941, at Climbing Hill, Iowa. Together they farmed in the Moville area, moving into Moville in 1976. Marvel died July 11, 1998.

Buck enjoyed farming and had even helped with planting this spring. He worked several years with the Woodbury County Fair. He was a member of the South Sioux City Eagles Club and enjoyed dancing.

Survivors include a son, Harry "Bucky" Jahn and his wife, Jana of Moville; a daughter, Marilyn Dillivan of Urbandale, Iowa; grandchildren, Douglas Dillivan, Vicki Dillivan, Ginger Jahn and Gina Jahn; three great-grandchildren, Megan Dillivan, Bennett Richardson and Madelyn Dillivan; a brother, Alfred "Rex" Jahn of Correctionville, Iowa; and a sister, Emma Haring of Sioux City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Larry Dillivan; and eight brothers and sisters.
