Helen M. Blenderman, 98, of Sioux City passed away Friday, Nov. 14, 2014 at a local nursing home.
Services will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Steven J. McLoud officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will begin 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Helen was born Oct. 8, 1916, in Sioux City, the daughter of John and Catherine (Steiner) Wilhelm. She grew up in Sioux City, attending Immaculate Conception Grade School and graduating from East High School.
Helen married Robert A. Blenderman on June 28, 1941. Together they made their home in Sioux City. Robert died July 20, 2001.
Helen was a member of Church of The Nativity. She enjoyed sewing (she made much of her own clothing), crocheting, gardening and golfing. Helen also traveled around the world extensively.
Survivors include five sons, Bob Blenderman of Arkansas, Jim Blenderman of Sioux City, Bill and Janice Blenderman of Florida, Steven Blenderman of Sioux City, and Tom Blenderman of Sioux City; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; one sister, Aegidia Wilhelm; and four brothers, Robert, Lawrence, Jerome and Frank Wilhelm.
