Helen L. DeLay, 98, of Sioux City passed away March 11, 2013, at Countryside Senior Living.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 20, at Grace United Methodist Church. Inurnment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Alta, Iowa. Visitation will be one hour prior to services and lunch will follow services.
Helen was born April 3, 1914, in Sioux City, to Victor and Anna (Hadden) DeLay. She moved to Alta, Iowa in 1918 and returned to Sioux City in 1948, and lived here for the rest of her life.
Helen worked at St. Luke's Medical Center for many years and continued to volunteer there well into her 90s. She also volunteered at Goodwill and was an avid walker and card player. Helen belonged to Grace United Methodist Church and was a 50-year member.
Survivors include nieces, Nancy and Bob Tolstad of Stillwater, Minn., Patricia and Carl Schach of Woodbury, Minn., and Susan and Dave Martin) Kading of Annapolis, Md.; great-nieces and nephews, James, Kathy, Becky, Jeff, John, Linda, Greg, Steve, David, Pam and Debbie; numerous great-great-nieces and nephews; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Marion Asmus and Catherine DeLay; brother, Clifford DeLay; and two nephews, Richard and John Asmus.
