Helen M. Jasman (Buhman)

August 10, 1928 — November 3, 2013

Helen M. Jasman, 85, lifelong resident of Sioux City, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013, at a local hospital.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Grace Lutheran Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Helen was the oldest of three children born to Henry and Wilhelmina "Minnie" (Reken) Buhman, in Sioux City on Aug. 10, 1928. She attended and graduated from Sioux City Public Schools.
Helen married her sweetheart, Richard. During their 66-year marriage, they raised two children. She was employed as a manager of the Old Home Bread Store in South Sioux City. Later, Helen was an associate at the Sunshine Store in Morningside.
Helen enjoyed playing bridge with her old neighborhood card club. She fished and enjoyed the outdoors at their retirement get away. Helen was a wonderful cook, which her family thoroughly enjoyed. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Survivors include her daughter, Carla and Carl Bata; son, Richard Jasman Jr.; grandchildren, Channa (Steve) Young, Paul Bata (Alex) Latty, Adam (Stephanie) Bata, James (Cassandra) Bata, Jesse Jasman, Luke (Kristine) Bata, Jack Jasman, and Timothy Bata; 10 beautiful great-grandchildren; brother, Charles Buhman of Cass Lake, Minn.; and sister, Janet Lukens of Sioux City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her cherished husband; infant daughter, Lynn Annette; an infant son, Jon Jeffery; and her beloved daughter-in-law, Terry Jasman.
