Helen F. Kelly, 87, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at a Sioux City hospital.
Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Friday at New Life Community Church, with the Rev. Bill Boehm officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Friday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.
Helen Kelly was born May 24, 1920, in Sioux City, to Nova and Josephine (Coil) Haralson. She grew up and attended Sioux City schools.
She married the Rev. Herman Kelly on Nov. 5, 1937, in Sioux City. He passed away Dec. 20, 2007 in Sioux City. The couple resided in Sioux City until the early 1970s. They then moved to Sac City, Iowa, and lived there until the early 1980s. From there they moved to Schaller, Iowa, and lived there until the late 1980s. They then resided in the Odebolt, Iowa, area, returning to Sioux City in 1997.
She was employed with AlCo Photo for many years and assisted her husband with his ministry work.
She was a member of New Life Community Church (formerly First Nazarene) She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, sewing, traveling, her Bible and Bible study groups. She was a very optimistic individual and loved life.
Survivors include her son, Jerry Kelly of St. Joseph, Mo.; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ann Rogers of Plainview, Neb., and Faith Willis of Sioux City; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Herman Kelly Jr.; her parents; three brothers; and two sisters.
