Helen May King, 95, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, June 29, 2014, at Holy Spirit Retirement Home.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Helen was born on May 27, 1919, in Aberdeen, S.D., to Bert and Mary Anne (Mohaw) Knost. She graduated from Central High School in 1938 and from St. Luke’s School of Nursing in Aberdeen.
She was united in marriage to Morris King on Dec. 6, 1941. She worked as an R.N. before becoming a homemaker.
She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Parish, a former member of Catholic Daughters and AARP.
Those left to honor her memory include her children, William Jude King of Sioux City, and Marilyn Ann (James) Ritz of Des Moines; grandchildren, Regina (Jake) DeVoogd, Roger (Chris) Ritz, and Robert (Kristy) Ritz; and great-grandchildren, Nicholas McClure, Madison McClure, Tori DeVoogd, Sydney Ritz, Dylan Ritz, and Connor Ritz.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and infant sister.
