SIOUX CITY -- Helene Mederisse Babue, 97, of Sioux City died Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. today at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with Monsignor Roger Augustine officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 9:30 a.m. until service time today at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Helene was born Aug. 3, 1914, in Sioux City, to Albert and Blance (Lamoureux) Babue. She attended Sioux City schools and graduated from Sioux City Cathedral High School in 1932.
She later moved to Des Moines and worked for the Civil Service from 1940 to 1942. Later in 1942, she started working for Consumers Consolidated Coal Company, where she worked until 1973. From 1973 to 1976, she worked for orthopedic/podiatrists in Des Moines. She later moved back to Sioux City in 1976 and began working for the Dioceses Chancery office from 1976 to 1981, when she retired.
She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
She is survived by a niece, Anne and Russel Bausch of Waterbury, Neb.; a grandniece, Connie Klaus; two grandnephews, Mike and Lisa Bausch and Mark and Misty Bausch; six great-grandnephews, Brandon, Colby, Devin, Jonathon, and Nathan Bausch and Caiden Bellows; three great-grandnieces, Beth Klaus, Ally Bausch and Halley Bellows; and very dear friends, Grace and Alan Rustan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Blance Babue; three brothers, Francis, William and Raymond; a sister, Marie Farrin; a nephew, Albert Carl Schurke; and a grandniece, Lisa Marie Bausch.
