Herbert Harold "Herb" Harris

SIOUX CITY -- Herbert H. Harris Jr., 73, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 2 p.m. today at Morningside Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Herbert H. Harris Jr. was born Aug. 7, 1938, in Lake City, Iowa, to Dr. Herbert and Sylvia (Hoffman) Harris Sr. He graduated from East High School in 1956 and Morningside College in 1960.
He married Eleanor Joy Dodge in October 1964. He worked at State Farm Insurance for 33 and one half years.
He was a member of the Men's Bowling board and the YBA Bowling board. He was a 50-year member of Morningside Presbyterian Church, the Scottish Rite Red Hat, Abu-Bekr White Horse Mounted Patrol and Masonic Lodge Morningside 615, where he was a past Master.
Survivors include a son, Paul Harris; a daughter, Cindy and Steve Schuur; grandchildren, Bonnie Schuur, Jackson Schuur, Amber (Schuur) and Brent Hruby, and Dustin and Rachel Schuur; and sisters, Cheryl Harris and Walter Coleman of Menahga, Minn., and Phyllis Owen of Parker, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Joy.
Memorials may be directed the the Shriner's Children's Hospital.
