Hilda Christina Visnow (Jilg)

Sioux City - Hilda Christina Visnow, 97, of Sioux City, went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, at The Embassy Care Center in Sergeant Bluff.
Services will be 10:30 Thursday at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Erpelding officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m., with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m., at Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Hilda was born on April 19, 1916, in Menominee, Neb., to Joseph and Philomena (Tembush) Jilg. She grew up in Menominee and attended Catholic school.
Hilda was united in marriage to Anton (Tony) Lenzen on Oct. 10, 1936, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Constance, Neb. They farmed in Wynot and Hartington Neb., until moving to Sioux City in 1953. Anton passed away on Aug. 12, 1971. On April 24, 1976, Hilda married Maurice "Maury" Visnow. Maury passed on July 5, 1997. Hilda was employed for 35 years, retiring from Davenport Cleaners in 1989.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Altar Society and the Carmelite Guild. She belonged to the Riverside Senior Center, where she enjoyed volunteering, playing cards and wonderful fellowship. She loved gardening and growing beautiful flowers.
Survivors include her son, Dan Lenzen and wife, Sherry of Sioux City; three daughters, Bonnie Brown of Farmers Branch, Texas, Carol Even and husband, Jim of Port Clinton, Ohio, and Sandy Berger and husband, Jack of Sioux City; a stepdaughter, Meredith (Visnow) Gillette and husband, Charles of Milwaukee, Wis.; and a stepson, Don Sexton and wife, Tina of Encinitas, Calif. She is proudly survived by 29 grandchildren/stepgrandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren/great-stepgrandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husbands; parents; son, David Lenzen; three brothers, Otto, Rudolph, and Victor; and five sisters, Amelia, Elizabeth, Wilma, Dolores and Alma.
