MOVILLE, Iowa -- Howard Jacob Molstad, 87, of Moville died Sunday, Oct. 19, 2008, at Holy Spirit Retirement Community in Sioux City.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Moville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Ed Frank officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Township Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the American Legion Wink-Sparks Post 303. Howard was born in Sioux City on Feb. 8, 1921, to Alfred and Addie Molstad. He attended school and graduated from Moville High School. He spent his entire life living on the Century Farm south of Moville, expect for the time he spent in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He and Ella Marie Davis were married on Feb. 7, 1948. To this union two sons were born. Ella died Dec. 6, 2006.
He was a member of Moville United Methodist Church and the American Legion Wink-Sparks Post 303. As a couple, they were very active in the Moville Senior Center.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Donald and Sheila Molstad of Hinton, Iowa; a grandson and his wife, Erik and Ann Molstad of Moville; a granddaughter and her husband, Nora and Pat Ryan of Council Bluffs, Iowa; two brothers, Dr. Irving Molstad and his wife, Gina of Sioux City and Wayne Molstad of Moville; a sister and her husband, Mary and Gilbert Smith of Whiting, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Maxine Molstad of Phoenix, Ariz.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ella; a son, Kenneth Molstad; and a brother, Lloyd Molstad.
