SIOUX CITY -- Ila J. Jorgenson, 97, of Sioux City died Friday, Oct. 14, 2011, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Harold Werley officiating. Burial will be in Correctionville Cemetery. There will be no visitation prior to the service.
Ila was born on Feb. 21, 1914 in Correctionville, Iowa. She was the daughter of Chris and Elvine (Clausen) Hansen. She was raised in Correctionville and attended school there.
On Jan. 1, 1933, she married Otto Norman Jorgenson in Omaha, Neb. In 1948, she worked at the Tasty Inn drive-in located in Lincoln, Neb., which the family owned and operated. They moved to Sioux City in the late 1950s. Otto died on Oct. 19, 1985 in Sioux City.
Ila enjoyed sewing, cooking, having and attending Christmas parties as well as picnics but what she loved most was spending time with her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Jeanette Beckel of Sioux City; two grandchildren, Otto N. Ailes and Jolynne Counter; three great-grandchildren, Josh, Ali and Jewell; one great-great-grandchild, Ava; and a sister, Ella Mae Heliker of Sioux City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a great-grandson, Joseph; her brothers, William, Emil, Alvie and Darold; and her sisters, Margaret and Doris.
