Inez Lockwood (Pope)

December 9, 1920 — December 22, 2012

Sioux City - Inez Fern Lockwood, 92, of Sioux City died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Visitation will be 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
She was the wife of Dr. G. Roy Lockwood, former pastor of Billy Sunday Tabernacle and founder of Morningside Christian School. During her days of being a pastor's wife, her home was always open to family, friends, church members and missionaries. She enjoyed building relationships through hospitality and meeting the needs of others. She gave of her time and resources for those less fortunate.
She had five children. Inez encouraged them to live with Christian character and love for others through nightly dinners together and family devotions. She encouraged them to pursue their dreams and live out biblical principles. Inez always desired success in each of her children but was very focused on the bigger picture: success in God's eyes.
While a young girl, Inez came to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, which transformed her life. It changed the way she saw people and lived for others. She modeled love and was an inspiration to the people she met.
Inez was a cosmetologist in her early years. Her goal for each of her children was to graduate from a Christian university, and that was made possible by her years of cosmetology. Her husband called her "Sugar," her children called her Mom, and she was the one everyone called friend.
She was an inspiration in life and a warrior in dying. She is now a citizen in glory. Her dignity, joy and laughter ring in the hearts of those who loved her.
Survivors include her children, Connie Campbell of Sioux City, Sharon (Dr. Larry) Reesor of Acworth, Ga., Sandra (Gregg) Monson of Greenville, S.C., and Marcia (Dr. Curtis) Bean of Naperville, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Stephen Lockwood; and a son-in-law, Clifford Campbell.
