Ira E. Saul Jr., 73, of Sioux City died Saturday, March 15, 2008, at a Sioux City hospital.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. today at Christy-Smith Larkin Chapel, with the Rev. Fred Pilecki of St. John's United Methodist Church in Mapleton, Iowa, officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service today at the funeral home.
Ira was born Dec. 22, 1934, in Sioux City. He attended the Sioux City School System and a body and fender school in Kansas City, Mo.
He married Mary F. Heitzman on June 20, 1959, in Sioux City. She died Nov. 10, 2006, in Sioux City. He was a lifelong Sioux City resident. He was self-employed as a furniture maker.
He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, cooking and watching western movies, especially John Wayne and the Turner Classic Movie channel.
Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Anita and Craig Lanegan of Sioux City; four sons and their wives, Harold and Cassandra Saul, Paul and Tamme Saul and David Saul and his girlfriend, Sue Nathlich, all of Sioux City and Joe and Corrie Saul of Edgewood, Iowa; seven grandchildren, John, Brian and Angela Saul, Hillary and Alexander "A.J." Saul and Mike and Paeyton Saul; two great-grandchildren, Avery and Ashton Miller; two brothers, Walter "David" Saul and John Saul; and a sister, Louise Clements.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; four brothers; and a sister.
