Sioux City- Iva Irene Amick, 90, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at a local hospital.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Grace United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel
She was born April 21, 1922, in Merrill, Iowa, to Chester and Bertha (Wagner) Pettit. Iva attended Merrill High School. She lived in Kansas City during World War II and farmed near Sloan, Sioux City and Bronson. Iva married Louis Amick in 1967 in Sioux City. She was active at the Senior Center in Siouxland. Iva enjoyed bowling, bingo and puzzles. She was a hard worker all of her life to provide for her family. Iva enjoyed interacting with her family.
Survivors include her daughter, Sharon Hardin, Sioux City; son, Richard (Cathy Meyers) Hamm, Sioux City; daughter-in-law, Barbara Hobbs, Whiting, Iowa; stepchildren, Kenneth (Ellen) Amick, Steven Amick, Dennis (Debbie) Amick, Sharron (DeRoy) Hedemark, Kathi (Dr. Jeffrey) Whiteside; grandchildren, Teena (Dan Wapner), Tracie (Ralph) Renschen, Suzanne (Matt Montag), Brian (Carol) Hobbs, Debbie Kay Hobbs, Cindy Gorman, Dwayne (Kelly) Curl, Billy (Barb) Curl, and Michelle Hamm; 17 great-grandchildren; numerous stepgrandchildren; and sister, Jean Steinkoenig, Lady of the Lake, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Louis Amick; siblings, Ira Pettit, Chester Pettit, Jr., Robert Pettit, Dolly Sample, Violet Belin, Helen Stoneking, Lucille Holmquist; daughter, Connie Curl; son, Dennis K. Hobbs; and son-in-law, Ray Hardin.
