Sioux City - Jack L. Forney, 76, of Sioux City passed away Oct. 31, 2012, at Sunrise Retirement Community.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Morningside Lutheran Church. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Jack was born on Feb. 12, 1936, in Sioux City, to Everett and Edna (Fundermann) Forney. He attended Sioux City schools and graduated from East High School. He served in the U.S. Army for three years, stationed part of those years in Germany.
He married Janette Warriner on June 2, 1963, at Morningside Lutheran Church. He worked for National Foods for 25 years and at Mercy Medical Center for 20 years before retiring in 2004.
He was a member of the American Legion Monahan Post 64. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Minnesota Vikings fan and enjoyed bowling. He was an active member of Morningside Lutheran Church and assisted his wife in many church activities. He enjoyed spending time with his pet cats.
Survivors include his wife, Janette Forney; a daughter, JoAnn (Curt) Rosenbaum of Watertown, S.D.; three sons, Jeffrey Forney, Jason (Beth) Forney, and Justin Forney; grandchildren, Joshua and Rachel Rosenbaum; and a brother, James (Jeanine) Forney of Polk City, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
