SIOUX CITY -- Jack K. Marks, 86, of Sioux City passed away unexpectedly of natural causes June 23, 2011, at his home.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Southern Hills Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dave Miller officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with military honors. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Jack was born April 11, 1925 in Windber, Pa., to Howard A. and Elnora (Yonker) Marks. He attended school and graduated from Windber. He later attended N.C. State College.
He married Billy Jean Killgo on Nov. 2, 1944, in Childress, Texas. She passed away April 12, 2005, in Sioux City. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a radioman on a B-29 bomber in Guam. He later served in the Korean Conflict.
After his service tour, the family resided in Texas and New Mexico. They later moved to Sioux City in 1960, and he had been a resident here ever since. Jack was employed with Burroughs Business Machines from 1952 to 1985. He later stocked shelves at Hy-Vee from 1985 to 2009, when he retired.
He was a member of Southern Hills Baptist Church. Jack enjoyed puzzles, cars, gardening, traveling and spending winters in Texas.
Survivors include his daughter, Janet and Rich Krone of Sioux City; his son, Kenneth and Renee Marks of Greeley, Colo.; and five grandsons, Nicholas Krone, Jeffrey Krone, Jack Marks, Morrie Marks and Jason Marks.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; a brother, Paul Marks; and a sister-in-law, Salina Marks.
