On Tuesday, October 11th, 2022, Jack Spidell of Bronson, Iowa passed away after a long illness peacefully in his home, surrounded by family. He was a vibrant 87 years old.
Jack Arthur Spidell was born August 7th, 1935, in Sioux City, Iowa to Arthur and Francis Spidell. He attended Sioux City Public Schools, and graduated from Central High School in 1954. After his graduation he began attending a 2 year trade school to study electricity in Milford, NE while working his summers at Radio Rays where he met the love of his life, Jeanette Lammers.
The two were wed on August, 20th, 1960 in Sioux City, Iowa at Trinity Lutheran Church. They resided in Sioux City, Iowa for several years where Jack worked as a Foreman for Dyna Tech. During this time Jack and his family decided to pursue their dream of living on an acreage and moved to Bronson, IA. Several years later after Dyna Tech left the Sioux City area Jack became a bus driver for the Sioux City Transit System where he worked until his retirement in 2000.
At a young age Jack became a member of the Triangle Masonic Lodge. After moving to Bronson Jack became a very active member of the community where he served on the Bronson Town Council, and volunteered as an EMT for the Bronson Ambulance and a Firefighter for the Bronson Fire Department.
A caring and hardworking individual, Jack had many hobbies he enjoyed. He was often found outside fulfilling his love for yardwork and gardening. He loved taking care of animals over the years and camping with his family every weekend. He enjoyed family gatherings, holidays, and traveling. After his retirement Jack enjoyed more down time inside while watching his favorite shows which was made up of Jeopardy, Price is Right, Andy Griffith and of course Gunsmoke, which he watched so much he could speak the dialogue word for word.
Jack was loved deeply, and will be missed immensely by many. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette; his two children, Lori (Bruce) Troupe, Waterloo, IA, Rick (Avis) Spidell, Sioux City, IA; six grandchildren, Karinsa, Nadea (Bryan), Nikaila, Ciara, Troy (Saron), Trevor; ten great-grandchildren, Syilehst, Chase, Breyanna, Alayna, Kirayla, Michael Jr., Tristen, Logan, Keona Mae; two great-great-grandchildren; and five nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur; his mother, Francis; and sister, Jeannie.
