SIOUX CITY -- Jacob D. Lipsey, 47, of Sioux City died Monday, Sept. 7, 2009, at a Sioux City hospital following a lengthy illness.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at New Life Ministries Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. James D. Mosley Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Jacob was born June 24, 1962, in Grand Rapids, Mich., the son of Jake and Elsie (Vance) Lipsey. He graduated from high school in Grand Rapids and received his associates degree in music. He married Walonda Goodwin on Sept. 6, 2006, in Glendale, Ariz.
Survivors include his wife, Walonda Lipsey of Sioux City; his daughter, LaKita Marie of Grand Rapids; three brothers, Lester Hardiman of Jackson, Fla., John Hardiman of San Bernadino, Calif., and the Rev. Thomas Hardiman of Modesto, Calif.; and four sisters, Maryritha Bennett of Jacksonville, Fla., Brenda Hardiman of Palaka, Fla., Vielt Mills and Charmaine Owens, both of Grand Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his son, Saron Lipsey; his biological parents, Tanya and Jessi Shivers; his adoptive parents, Elsie and Jake Lipsey; and his sisters, Almeda Hardiman and Mary Frazier.
