Jacqueline "Jackie" Joyce Mogensen, 85, of Sioux City, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2017, at her residence.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be noon until service time Friday at the funeral home.
Jackie was born on Nov. 25, 1931, in Sioux City, the only child of William "Ed" and Luella (Montange) Ross. She attended East High School, graduating with the class of 1949.
On Nov. 22, 1951, Jackie Married Richard "Dick" Mogensen. Dick passed away on Nov. 1, 2000. Jackie worked for Bell Telephone Company, Younker Davidson's, Donnelly Marketing and the Clerk of Courts, retiring in 2001.
Jackie was a lifelong member of the Sorority Beta Sigma Phi. She participated in ABWA (American Business Women's Association), the Red Hat Society and enjoyed the monthly lunches with her friends from the Class of 1949. She was an excellent seamstress, enjoyed shopping and spending summer weekends with family and friends at their home on the Missouri River.
Jackie is survived by her three children, Bill Mogensen, Rick Mogensen, Jr. and Lori Thornton, of Sioux City. She loved her two granddaughters, Holly (Jahill) Trudell and Kelsi Thornton (David) Collins; and she cherished her five great-grandchildren, Jordan, Jaden and Jalen Trudell, Ava Thornton and Aniyah Collins. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Shirley Mogensen; two nieces; two nephews; several cousins; and her special companion, Pooch.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; mother-in-law; two brothers-in-law; one sister-in-law; one niece; and several cousins.
The family would like to thank the nurses of Mercy Hospital's sixth floor Critical Care Unit and the Hospice nurses and aides for the care they provided.
