James Richard Crichton

Sioux City - James R. Crichton, 63, of Sioux City died Friday, June 29, 2012, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 7 p.m. today at Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be at a later date in Westfork Township Cemetery at Climbing Hill, Iowa. Visitation will be two hours prior to services today at the funeral home.
James was born June 9, 1949, in Sioux City, the son of Donald and Ferne (Carr) Crichton. He was raised in the Climbing Hill area and graduated from Woodbury Central High School.
Jim married Mary Miller on May 18, 1968, in Holly Springs, Iowa. Together they made their home in the Hornick, Iowa, area. Over the years, Jim worked at Ford, Woodbury County Maintenance Department and IBP before 1997, when he went to work for Wells' Dairy in Le Mars as lead refrigeration technician.
Jim liked to help friends and family with all their fix-it jobs as he was a jack-of-all-trades. As a young man, he and his father laid all the sidewalks in Hornick. Jim also did the window work at the Hornick Depot Museum.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Crichton of Sioux City; three daughters and their husbands, Tami Draissey and Scott, Teresa Gotto and Bill and Tricia Crichton-Wilridge and Odyssie, all of Sioux City; seven grandchildren, Jake Gotto, MJay Brassilio, Jamie Brassilio, Luke Crichton, Nevaeh Crichton-Wilridge, Sara and Adam Stodden and Steven Draissey; two great-grandchildren, Elijah Watkins and Christopher Wagner; three brothers, Ronnie and Norma Crichton of Florida, Dennis and Sonja Crichton of Kansas, and twin brother, John and Marla Crichton of Moville, Iowa; and two sisters, Bev Ahrens of Sioux City, and Karen Crichton of California.
He was preceded in death by his parents; great-grandson, William; one brother; and one sister, in infancy.
