James E. “Jim” Kramer, 76, died Saturday, February 3, 2018, at his residence in Sioux City, IA.
A visitation will be 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at Christy-Smith Funeral Home, Morningside, with a prayer service at 6:30 pm. A funeral mass will be 10:00 am Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at Mater Dei Parish-Church of the Nativity.
James Edwin “Jim” Kramer, the son of Edwin and Marcella (Mannion) Kramer was born October 28, 1941, in Wayne, NE. In 1959, he graduated from Cedar Catholic High School in Hartington, NE. Jim was employed at a clothing store before enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1964. He served honorably until his discharge in 1966.
On February 22, 1966, Jim was united in marriage with Sheyrel Wiebelhaus in Laurel, NE. They then started a family in Sioux Falls, SD where he was employed at Cook Paint Store staying there for 5 years before being transferred to Sioux City, IA. Jim then became an equipment operator at MidAmerican Energy, where he was employed for 25 years. After his retirement, he returned to MidAmerican as a consultant.
Jim was man of few words but there were many life lessons contained in those few words. He was a dedicated family man, and is survived by his wife, Sheyrel of Sioux City; children, Lori (Bill) Melville of Sioux City, Lisa Kramer of Houston, TX, Mike (Cyndi) Kramer of Sioux City, Steve (Tonya) Kramer of Sioux City; eight grandchildren, Colton, Cameron, and Chloe Kramer, Ashley, Kayley, and Kyle Morgan, Steven and Justin Johnson; a sister, Jane (Jim) Coughlin of Omaha, NE; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
